Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced the expansion of the PlayStation®2 line-up in Europe with the introduction of a new colour. Sony President Kaz Hirai expressed his concern: "We have alienated the gay community for far too long. They want a system that represents their unique and diverse culture, one of unprotected, loveless sex. We here at Sony believe that our system ought to reflect the values of our consumers, some of whom consume c**k."
Andrew Sullivan and Gore Vidal hailed the system upon its announcement as "a triumph of tolerance" and then proceeded to molest a PSP.
The other video game console companies have not been nearly as gay-friendly. One Nintendo official, speaking under condition of anonymity, is quoted as saying, "All-a my life-a, I've-a been in the closet-a. Even my brother, Luigi, doesn't-a know. Mamma mia!" When asked whether she was a "fag hag," Princess Peach refused comment.
Microsoft, despite the massive amount of AIDS relief given by founder Bill Gates, still refuse to allow openly gay characters in their games, although rumours of a relationship between Master Chief of Halo fame and um, well, there really are no other leading Xbox characters to complete this joke...
But Hirai insists that the move will draw in, rather than turn off, potential gamers. "I mean, Lord knows that Sony is known for its commitment to drawing in people through innovation and originality in its games and systems, right?" Meanwhile, Nintendo unveiled their 3S handheld system, which boasts a third screen in addition to the standard two screens. President Satoru Iwata said that the added screen "really makes watching porn easier, although I admit that you may need a third hand to play and beat it off at the same time!"
