Sarah v. Idiot, LIVE!

POST-DEBATE FACT-CHECK: Here and here.

10:29 - CLOSING STATEMENTS: Sarah thanks everyone for the opportunity she has had. She says we must always fight for freedom and quotes Reagan. Biden gives another class warfare answer but also says we must support our veterans. Biden quotes his dad as saying, "When you get knocked down, you get back up." He ends with a God Bless America and our troops. Smart move. Families come on-stage. Big families for both of them. 'Tis a miss of kin.

10:27 - Biden and Sarah discuss bipartisanship and what-not.

10:26 - Sarah says she "quasi-caved in" on passing bad budgets as Mayor and Governor but said that they were necessary evils to progress.

10:24 - Biden says he changed his views on judges or something. He is proud of destroying Bork. Basically, liberal judges are necessary for awesomeness. Idiot.

10:23 - Biden says Mac ain't no maverick on the issues which matter and goes all crazy.

10:21 - Sarah says Mac is "the consummate maverick" and that Congress has been EPIC FAIL regardless of who was in charge. Sarah says she was a maverick Governor who worked with many different and diverse Governors.

10:18 - Sarah addresses her perceived inexperience and notes her executive experience and her everyday struggles as a working mom with a son in the war and a special-needs child. She says we are an exceptional, imperfect Nation which must strive to be the "Shining City on a Hill" to which Reagan referred. Biden jokes about his "excessive passion", or his gaffes. Biden notes his Senate experience and his struggles, such as the loss of his wife and daughter and coping with his injured sons. He actually looks choked up. Good answer, honestly.

10:17 - Biden: CHENEY IS THE MOST DANGEROUS VP EVAR!!11 He says all a VP can do is vote when the Senate ties.

10:16 - Sarah praises the Constitution and the powers afforded to the VP. She supports getting more power as VP through the Constitution as President of the Senate. Sarah also cites her executive experience as the reason for her being picked.

10:15 - Biden: Change and stuff. Sorry, I honestly just couldn't follow.

10:13 - Sarah says her line about what the VP does every day was a lame joke, and so was Biden's comment about never being VP, since nobody got it. She said she wants to reform and lead and help special-needs children.

10:11 - Biden gets all up in the Republicans' grill about the middle class. Sarah: "Say it ain't so, Joe, there you go again!" "Doggone it", you keep talking about Bush! Your wife has been a teacher for 30 years, and her reward is in Heaven, as they say. My grandma was a teacher, my dad was a teacher and my brother is a teacher, and you students at his elementary school get extra credit for watching tonight. Sarah says No Child Left Behind isn't working and needs reform, and we must place more emphasis on the profession of teaching.

10:08 - Sarah says, of course Mac and I disagree on some issues, we're a team of mavericks!

10:07 - Biden says if he became President, he would continue Obama's policies. He hits the Bush Doctrine of pre-emption. He says he agrees with Obama on every major policy position and says that this is the most important election since 1932, when President FDR debated Hoover on T.V. ;-)

10:06 - Biden keeps hitting Mac, but Sarah counters that Mac knows war because "he's been there". Ohhh, she went there!

10:04 - Sarah: Gosh, I'm just such a Washington outsider! It was SO a war resolution, and you are "for it before you were against it!" You supported Mac's strategy and opposed Obama's!

10:02 - Biden defends his interventionism in Bosnia, and he says he didn't vote for the Iraq War, he voted to give the AUTHORITY to go to war. Riiight. He says he "does not have the stomach" for the Darfur genocide. He supports using African allies to end the genocide.

9:56 - Sarah: We must place economic sanctions on dangerous countries which seek to proliferate nuclear weapons. She asks the moderator, Can we talk about Afghanistan? Sarah says that a surge in Afghanistan like that in Iraq is an example of a differnce from Bush. Obama's comment about air-raiding villages was dangerous, and we are building schools there and winning over the people. Biden says the top Commander in Afghanistan said that a surge like that would not work, and he says Iraq is far more expensive than Afghanistan. The Afghanistan conversation drags on, and I get distracted by shiny things.

9:51 - Sarah says a two-state solution is preferable to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We must prevent a second Holocaust and build our embassy in Jerusalem. Biden: "No-one in the Senate has been a better friend of Israel than Joe Biden." He claims the Bush policy has been an abject failure. Freedom isn't on the march, but Iran is. Sarah says the policy is not an abject failure, but she is happy to hear that they both love Israel. She hits the other side's finger-pointing, since that's not forward-looking change. Change is coming, she says, and Mac is a maverick. Biden: Past is prologue. How is Mac different from Bush?

9:49 - Sarah discusses her talks with Henry Kissinger and about his love of diplomacy. She hits Obama on sitting down with dictators without preconditions. Biden claims the Iranian President has no power over the military; the theocracy does. Biden says the Bush Administration's diplomacy has alienated our allies and asserts Mac wouldn't sit down with Spain.

9:47 - Sarah says Patraeus and al Qaeda have said Iraq is the central front of the War on Terror. She said the President of Iran has made comments towards Israel - such as that it is a "stinking corpse" - which show that he is unstable.

9:45 - Biden talks about Pakistan's nuclear capabilities, saying they already have weapons, but Iran getting them would be even worse. He hits Mac for saying the central front of the War on Terror is in Iraq. He argues the central front is from Al Qaeda in Pakistan. He said we should help the locals build schools, not madrassas. Bin Laden lives there, and we should go after him.

9:42 - Sarah: YOUR PLAN IS A WHITE FLAG OF SURRENDER IN IRAQ. You opposed Obama cutting off funds for the troops, and I don't see how you can defend that now, especially with a son in the National Guard. Biden fires back that Mac cut off funding for the troops because the bill contained a time-line for withdrawal. Biden attacks McCain's past Iraq statements. As his mother was say, "God love him", but Mac has been dead wrong on Iraq.

9:39 - Sarah addresses an Iraq exit plan. She hits Obama/Biden on their surge opposition. Sarah hits Obama's funding to cut the troops after promising not to do so and commends Biden's condemning him for that. Biden says that Sarah didn't really mention a plan.

9:37 - Sarah says she is tolerant of homosexuals and awkwardly uses the word "choose", which will be hit by the far Left. She says we can't redefine marriage, but she won't oppose basic same-sex couple benefits, such as hospital visitation and contracts between parties. Biden clarifies that neither he nor Obama supports same-sex "marriage" and that such an issue should be left to individual faiths and their participants. Biden basically asserts that there's no difference between Sarah and he on the issue, and Sarah simply re-asserts her opposition to same-sex "marriage".

9:36 - Biden says same-sex couples will get the same benefits as opposite-sex couples and defends it under the Constitution.

9:35 - Sarah says, "It's, Drill, baby, drill!" She notes the natural gas pipe-line which got passed in her State, she hammers Biden, adorably, on the fact that he called off-shore drilling "raping", she attacks his opposition to clean coal and when asked about her position on capping carbon emissions, she confirms support. Biden says he has always supported clean coal and attacks Mac for voting against alternative energy 20 times.

9:33 - Biden goes on the attack and asserts that climate change is, in fact, man-made and says all Mac supports is, "Drill, drill, drill" and that we need a comprehensive energy plan.

9:30 - CLIMATE CHANGE: Sarah notes she is the Governor of America's only Arctic State. She doesn't entirely blame Man, but she says things are clearly changing. She doesn't want to argue about the CAUSES of climate change; she just wants to talk about how to FIX it. She says we must become energy independent and notes that many countries which don't care about climate change (i.e. China and India) are polluting the Earth. She notes that she was the first Governor to create a climate change sub-cabinet.

9:27 - Sarah says that there needs to be more oversight of the credit markets. Biden defends Obama's record. Sarah says Biden's response isn't accurate but changes the subject back to energy.

9:26 - Biden gives Sarah credit for supporting a windfall profits tax on oil companies similar to that of Obama.

9:23 - Sarah hits Obama on energy and cites her history of taking on oil companies. She blames Obama for voting for an energy bill which gave tax breaks to oil companies, and she said she had to "undo" Obama's actions as Governor of Alaska.

9:21 - Biden hits Mac's plan as hurting the average Joe and even points to the camera as he says it. Biden stumbled on the word "characterised". Heh. He also calls shady tax evasion "unpatriotic".

9:19 - Sarah says that under Mac people will get a 5K tax credit and will be able to purchase insurance across State lines.

9:18 - Sarah attacks the redistribution policy "that seems to be espoused by you". She hits Obama on how small businesses will get hurt by his plan. Sarah hits Biden on his "paying taxes is patriotic" gaffe. Biden says that not giving tax cuts to oil companies is not redistribution, but "fairness". He attacks the McCain plan as "the ultimate Bridge to Nowhere".

9:16 - Biden says that the middle class didn't get a tax cut, and no-one earning less than 250K will get a tax increase under an Obama Administration. And the rich will pay no more than under Reagan.

9:14 - WE DIDN'T VOTE TO RAISE TAXES, Biden says, and Mac voted the same way. And Sarah sets the debate by hitting hard on taxes.

9:12 - "Darn right we need to cut taxes to create jobs!" She calls Obama "Barack" and says Obama and Biden voted for the largest tax increase in history.

9:11 - Biden attacks McCain's record on deregulation. It's a solid attack.

9:10 - Sarah hits predatory lenders. "Darn right it's them!" Biden is VISIBLY SIGHING. "NEVER AGAIN WILL WE BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF."

9:07 - Time for the VPs to talk about why they should be VP. Biden mostly attacks McCain and Bush. Sarah hits back citing her Mayoral and Gubernatorial experience and notes Obama has voted Democrat 96% of the time. SCORE.

9:05 - Sarah has a BRILLIANT opening statement saying how the average Joe and Jane have been hurt by the economy. She defends Sen. McCain by noting his call to go after Fannie Mae back in 2006.

9:03 - Biden won the coin toss. He's attacking the Bush Administration for their handling of the economy. He is now defending Obama's plan for fixing the economy. In my opinion, Biden looks very, very tired. HE ALSO JUST CALLED HER GOV. PALIN. SCORE.

9:02 - Palin and Biden approach the stage, Sarah asks, "Can I call you Joe?" Awww!

9:01 - Moderator Gwen Ifill introduces Gov. Palin and Sen. Biden. Domestic and foreign policy will be discussed. 90 second answers with two minute rebuttals and follow-ups.

8:59 - I have butterflies in my stomach. One minute until we begin!

8:50 - PRE-DEBATE COVERAGE BEGINS.
